Dear Kindergarten Families,

Here is what’s going on in Kindergarten next week:

We are excited to have parent volunteers begin assisting in the classroom! Don’t forget to check in at the office to get a visitor sticker before coming to the classroom at 7:55. 

Art/Science/Math:  Students will be using apples to practice the concept of sorting, counting and tasting different colored apples, and graphing which flavor they like the most.  They will learn about different types of graphs through this investigation. Lastly, we will be studying the life cycle of an apple tree as well as learning about the different stages that an apple tree goes through during the seasons. Thursday is the first day of Fall and we will be discussing what happens during this season as we go for a “Fall Walk” around the school looking for signs of Fall.

Words of the Week: "like”

Reading: We will continue reading the small paper books that focus on sight words in our centers.  When we send these books home, please have your child read them to you until they can read them fluently. 

Writer’s Workshop: Students are learning to write and tell stories about things that are important and exciting to them. We are focusing on telling stories with a beginning, middle and end.

On Thursday all students will have their hearing and vision tested.  You will be notified by our school office if there are any concerns.

Hi Kindergarten Families! Here is what's going on in Kindergarten next week: New Theme: “Monsters and Wild Things”! This theme is a great way to discuss the concepts of “Fiction” vs. “Non-Fiction” which we will be comparing through a variety of books and charting the differences between each genre. Dec 18-22

Hi Kindergarten Families, Here is what’s going on in Kindergarten next week: Due to a very fun-filled busy week, we will not be having Centers all of next week, so we will not need any of you wonderful volunteers at Centers time. Monday is our fieldtrip to Natural Bridges. Don’t forget to send a booster car seat with your child to school that day. Wednesday is a school-wide spirit day: “Ugly Sweater Day”! We can’t wait to see all of the fun, festive winter/holiday clothing and flare that day! Friday is our “Pajamas and Pancakes Holiday Party” that our awesome Room Moms are organizing. We are encouraging the students to wear cozy pajamas to school this day (if they attend Apple, you might want to send an extra pair of regular clothes in their backpacks).   In addition to the party, we will also go to a school-wide holiday Sing-a-Long in the MPR.
